instagram #12 - This Week

extremely tired - mind blown, russian dolls - playing with the camera #1.
let's not be ill anymore this year. remember, it tastes better than it looks.
little silver bird - playing with the camera #2. which colour to choose?
tarot cards - playing with the camera #3. products recently bought, that make me want to eat my own face; they smell that good.

This week has not gone to 'plan' and when I say plan, my plans generally are flexible (unless it's real important,) so if something crops up, like this week, overtime at work - I try not to beat myself up over it. I try, and fail.

Like the top-box for the wardrobe, turns out it has to be drilled into place (of course it does, Sophie,) which none of us can do, so a family friend is doing it on Monday. SO today after work, I'll be a good sport and get all of our clothes out, folded and ready to be sorted come Monday once the blighter is fitted and all dust has been removed.

Can you tell I am slightly resentful at the top-box? Jesus, being resentful at inanimate objects!

That being said, even though there is lots to do, I cannot wait until it is all done, when I have a week off work (June) and just relaxing, making dinners - which I have been neglectful of - relying on everyone else when I have been at work. I do enjoy cooking but the last thing I want to do is face a mountain of washing up afterwards...

Have an amazing weekend lovelies! I hope you're not stuck in work like I am...

Peace!

New Purchases - Feel Unique + Ebay...

Oh goodness.

It wasn't intentional. I was running out of my supplies - case in point, lower picture - my trial run of Bioderma has been extremely pleasing but it was running low so figured, yes, I will go for the next size up.

That's how it begins you know, just an innocent re-purchase. Then you're on feel unique picking up a make-up removing/facial wash from Nuxe (which is so so honey smelling it makes me want to eat my face,) and a very amazing (so far,) yet bizarre cleanser from Burts Bees which is almost like a balm/oil - and deliciously orange scented.

Not to mention the usual from Palmers (body moisturizer, as standard for me, I tend not to stray far from cocoa butter concoctions,) and a new purchase from Avene.

I shopped around, mind you, to get the best deals. But I seriously cannot wait to tell you how they are working for me in a few weeks time. :)

Peace!

Nails | Spring/Summer Edit

1\\2\\3\\4

I have been a bad blogger and a terrible girl. I have succumbed to stress and have taken it out on my nails. I know, it's wrong, it's a bad habit, one that I thought I had broken - but alas, as I type this my nails are at a sorry length although they have been neatened up and I am vowing to leave them be for a while - but when I achieve 'polish acceptable' lengths again, here's my pick of varnish's I'll be using and have been using, in rotation for S/S 13.

Revlon Nail Enamel - One Perfect Coral. My picture does this polish no true homage, but in any case I'd say it was more of a pinky coral than coral-coral. Despite it's name being slightly misleading, I adore it - it is opaque pretty much in one coat so you could easily get away with just the one. This could be the perfect holiday shade - paired with the right base and top coat. A cheery, glossy pinky-coral, with minimal chips? Score.

Essie - Meet Me at Sunset. An orange/red - this falls into serious summer category for me, a pretty good dupe for Chanel Holiday too, if you're hankering for a cheaper alternative. I got this mini bottle along with Smooth Sailin' off ebay - link here. As with all Essie polishes, the colour pay off is gorgeous after two coats, I find, and chips with this seemed to occur within four days or so - depending on what kind of work I was doing at the time.

Nails Inc - Totes Pink. I got this with InStyle Magazine, and can't seem to find it anywhere! Annoying! In any case, this is a perfect shade of baby pink that I can't wait to put on during a pedicure. I tend to keep to neutrals or 'safe' colours on my toes - neutrals, french pinks and ivorys, true reds or a black shade for drama. This is pretty and reminds me of sandals, grass and warm breezes. Just a perfect 'oh my feet are out, but yes, aren't they pretty?' shade.

Barry M Hi Shine Gel Effect - Prickly Pear. This lilac colour had me at hello. It really did. The finish is perfectly glossy and gel like, as promised - applied with a careful hand - two coats and you're done. I tend to use this when I'm not working on delivery days because although chips aren't a problem, smudging completely is. I don't know why but it's almost like they haven't dried at all when I have to actually get my hands dirty. Regardless of that fact, I still love it, and it's more my own fault than the polish's.

So that's it - my perfect colour mix for summer - although it is absolutely hammering it down outside right now. God help me, my town always gets the short straw...

So, what's in your edit?

Peace!

Fashion | Home | Beauty

1//2//3//4//5//6

Happy Monday lovelies!

I'm at work for three hours today (you might wonder, what's the point, but who am I to question the fabled 'shift gods'?) and then I can return home to purge the living room. The rug will be taken out and beaten by my Mother - who loves nothing more than beating rugs, apparently - the sofa moved - and the boxes behind it taken to the shed (Josh hates throwing away boxes of the items he's bought in case there is an issue later...) floors will be scrubbed, surfaces dusted.

Tuesday - the wardrobe top box will arrive and hopefully be built. Pretty dated in interior worlds but a necessary evil - soon the second wardrobe we have will be downstairs so we can actually have a desk for Josh's iMac - and it means my parents don't have to spend money on more furniture for Dad's new room (more on that later, if you're intrigued at all.)

On Wednesday it would be a dream if I could get all from Josh's wardrobe into mine - and the top box and the drawers so that I can finally place the order for the new drawers, and then the old set can once again go downstairs, following suit of the wardrobe it came with. Who's up for new ikea furniture and recycling furniture? Me, I suppose, 'cause I'm broke. :)

It would also be a dream that on the weekend I could get my brother-in-law and boyfriend to actually get the wardrobe downstairs. :) But it might take longer.

Anyway, who else is purging your homes for summer?

Peace!

IME - Film Shorts

SILAGE from IME on Vimeo.
Bowling For Turf from IME on Vimeo.

Just a little Sunday morning shout out for my partner in crime. I've probably mentioned it before but Joshua is studying Film at University which means I've ended up in two videos so far for his first year. Although in the second video, it barely counts - it's just my legs.

Joshua also has a blog, a youtube account and a vimeo account - so please, go check it out, like and comment it up! :)

Peace!

instagram #11 - This Week

 War Horse House adventures.
Discovered the PhotoGrid app - Hanging out with my gang.

If I was to say things weren't going to plan, would that be the right definition? I won't wax lyrically about my woes but lets just say I REALLY HATE having a car sometimes, you know, when insurance time rolls around (this time of year,) and M.O.T rolls around (also this time of year, but thankfully, last month,) - I'd worked pretty damn hard saving some cash and now it's all gone...

Not to mention my laptop is now saying it hates wi-fi so I'm pretty surprised I am able to post this at all! I had nearly given up altogether of posting this weekend until I managed to spy a mystical three-bar signal! Huzzah!

And breath, Sophie.

A new writing course starts on Monday, which I'm looking forward to. Something to pass the time until September time when another course starts up again, for realz. I'm also studying creative writing on the side, you know, just for the giggles.

The point I am trying to make - I suppose, let's not worry about money. Let's just be happy and do what we love. Yeah? Cool.

Peace!

P.s, posting some 'short films' I have been in tomorrow - so don't forget to come back and look! :)

How to Treat & Ease Cold & Flu.

Having previously mentioned I at least suffer from a major cold/flu bug twice a year - due to a poor immune system I'm pretty used to the protocol that follows. Sometimes it can't be helped, you may have an amazing immune system (like my boyfriend, jealous,) but can still catch a doozy bug. This is for all, a general ease and treat that I find helps (and having a cold now makes me sympathetic to my fellow sufferers...)

1. Drink your fluids! Keep a water filter jug near by if you have one, or just plenty of bottles so you don't have to move very far. Put ice in it, if you feel hot with fever - but drink up and drink more than you think you should. Your body will thank you for it. Brita Elemaris Water Filter Jug, 2.4L, £15.

2. Green tea is one of those magical things laden with health benefits - especially in building up your immune system (some say to gargle it, why not try both?) A hot drink is also beneficial for decongesting, so if you're not a fan of green tea, try some Manuka Honey and Lemon with hot water (and ginger, if you have any!) - if you have trouble sleeping, add a shot of whiskey in one before bed time - I won't tell, promise. Hugs Green Tea, Box of 10, £5.

3. Sounds painfully obvious, but keep tissues or a handkerchief to hand and blow your nose, often. I'm a pain for this because if I am in public, I hate blowing my nose - it's a random paranoia, in any case, don't sniff - and don't blow your nose too hard, gross as it is to be speaking about it, but you can get an earache by doing it too harshly. And who needs a ear ache when you already feel like death warmed up? Not me, so blow your nose gently. Pack of Two Handkerchiefs, £12.

4. Take your medication! I find this Lemsip All In One Capsules the best for the job - they have all the right stuff in those little tablets to try and ease your woes. Don't forget these already contain Paracetamol - so you won't need to take any, otherwise you risk overdosing. Which is never fun. If you're already on medication, I don't need to remind you about consulting your doctor about taking more medication, remember, I am not a doctor! Lemsip Max Day and Night Cold & Flu Relief, £3.99.

5. Rest and then rest some more. If you must go to work/school, then go to sleep earlier - but I'd recommend not going in. I know what it's like these days with employers and sickness - but if you go in and spread it round as it were, then more staff will fall like flies. If it helps try and organize with your boss to change shifts with someone - so the worse days you're able to rest up. Stay under a blanket and read some magazines, a book. Try and ignore your computer, it will just make your eyes water trying to. Cable Knit Throw, £40.

6. Eat lightly, like soup and yoghurt. I always find it more comforting anyway than heavy meals - a tin of Heinz or if you're lucky enough to have someone there to make you some, home made is best and much more comforting. Heinz Tomato Soup, available in most if not all supermarkets.

7. Have a bath, put in your most luxurious bath oils and relax, lavender helps for sleeping and rest obviously, but it's not necessary. I always find a bath helps wonders when you're ill - but if you don't have a bath, then a steamy hot shower will work just as well - especially for decongesting. Jo Malone Orange Blossom Bath Oil, £38.

So there it is, the seven tips I swear by when riddled with a cold or flu. I do hope if you are suffering like me, that you get better soon.

What are your tips for recovering from colds and flu?

Peace!
